My music appreciation course entitled Nine Odes to Joy: The Beethoven Symphonies concluded this week at the Manitoba Conservatory of Music & Arts. The response was most gratifying. Students comments included the following:
Exceptional!! Don’s classes have heightened my knowledge and enjoyment of music immensely. An amazing learning experience.
Don obviously puts a great deal of time and energy into preparing his course material, yet his presentation of it seems so effortless – almost like he was there at the time the events took place. I am always mesmerized by Don’s recounting of the unique aspects of the composers’ lives.
Don Anderson makes everything interesting which seems forever to stay in my mind. I enjoyed all the classes immensely. I have not missed a class since they started. Therefore this should speak for itself.
Many thanks to all who took part. I hope to see you in September for another season!
I am deeply grateful for the excellent response to the chamber music course that concluded recently at the U of W. I received a remarkable 100% excellent (and beyond!) personal rating from the students. Their comments included the following:
A beautiful, relaxing way to spend a morning. Great handouts. Each session was exceptionally well prepared and very detailed.
Don has a way of introducing each piece that is especially valuable for a “non-musician” such as I. He is truly amazing!
My thanks to the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society (Gwen Hoebig, Karl Stobbe, Dan Scholz and Yuri Hooker) for helping to make the course so successful. I will be giving another course at the U of W during the winter months of 2010. I’ll announce the details here as soon as they’re available.
