Come to a feast for everyone who loves the violin! Fifteen superlative violinists perform the great concertos, every piece is complete, and they’re all on video. This course gives you a whole new level of insight by giving the opportunity to see these geniuses perform as well as hear them. The stellar roster includes the brightest stars of the current generation: Joshua Bell (Tchaikovsky), Fabio Biondi (Vivaldi), James Ehnes (Bruch), Julia Fischer (Dvořák), Hilary Hahn (Glazunov), Janine Jansen (Brahms, Vaughan Williams), Anne-Mutter Mutter (Mozart), Gil Shaham (Barber) and Maxim Vengerov (Sibelius), as well as artists from earlier generations such as Jascha Heifetz (Tchaikovsky), Itzhak Perlman (Beethoven), David Oistrakh (Bach, Shostakovich), Yehudi Menuhin (Bach), Nathan Milstein (Mendelssohn) and Isaac Stern (Bach).

The course also includes master film documentarian Tony Palmer’s Ivry Gitlis and the Great Tradition, a vibrant portrait of an exceptional violinist who is also a truly wonderful human being; a spellbinding masterclass with Maxim Vengerov; and a hilarious visit with the most famous amateur violinist of all time. Don Anderson will add to your enjoyment with fascinating background information on the artists, the music, and the history and construction of the violin.
